Horse riding is permitted in all areas of the Dungog Common, whilst riders must avoid causing damage to Dungog Common trails, waterways, vegetation or cause stress to livestock or native animals and must be considerate of other users of the Dungog Common.
Note: All pedestrian and bicycle bridges have a 300 kg limit, that is, they are not suitable for horses, so please ensure your horses go around them.
Riders are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their horses, the Dungog Common Recreation Reserve Trust recommends all riders wear approved safety helmets when riding in the Dungog Common and if riding alone they inform a friend or family member where they are riding and should consider weather and ground/trail conditions before riding. Parents/guardians are responsible for children riding in the Dungog Common.
Horses must be kept under control at all time and must be secured in a yard, tied up or held when not being ridden — loose horses will be impounded.
Horses are not permitted to stay overnight at the Dungog Common unless authorised by the DCRRT.
Enjoy your riding and remember we welcome your feedback and any donations. Donations will go towards providing facilities such as toilets, horse rails etc.
